I’m excited to feature the Compassion Prison Project because they’re hands-on in how they visit prisons to teach residents, officers and staff the signs of childhood trauma. A bit of how their sessions work is shown in the documentary, The Wisdom of Trauma, and I recommend the film not just for their scenes but to learn more about the connection between childhood development and adult health.
So yeah, I love this org, they resonate with my own experiences in group therapy. Also, the way prisons function aren’t about justice, they’re exactly the opposite and I think the direction this org is going in needs more attention. Lastly, there’s not enough understanding in our society about Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), and the Compassion Prison Project’s website provides a helpful resource that explains them.
Please learn more or donate to the org. Shop my Society6 store and I’ll donate 25% of my artist’s profits to them. Book a headshot with me and 10% is donated.
